Due to challenging snow conditions, the organizers of the Finlandia Ski Marathon are forced to deviate from the original course plan. As no snowfall is forecast for the Lahti region, the 62-kilometer course cannot be implemented. Snow conditions will also cause changes to the other race distances.
Snowmaking along the Finlandia Ski Marathon route is progressing at a rapid pace. Snow production has been underway since the beginning of the year, with well over 5,000 cubic metres of snow already produced.
The cold spell around the turn of the year and the existing natural snow cover are accelerating the opening of the ski trail network in the Lahti and Hollola region in Finland. Snowmaking is currently underway at several points along the Finlandia Ski Marathon route.
Lahti is full of interesting places to explore when you come for the Finlandia Ski Marathon. We recommend staying at least one night in the Lahti region – here are a few absolute must-see attractions to visit in addition to your ski trip.
There are three months to go until the Finlandia Ski Marathon. The 2026 event will take place exceptionally early, on the first weekend of February, February 7–8, 2026.

The Open Nordic Walking European Championships, organised in cooperation by the International Nordic Walking Federation (INWA) and Finlandia Ski Marathon, took place in Lahti on September 12–14, 2025. This was the second year that INWA and Finlandia Ski Marathon jointly hosted a Nordic walking championship.
Finlandia Ski Marathon showcases Lahti’s winter sports heritage and provides excellent visibility for both its partners and local expertise.
Starting in 2025, participant medals at Finlandia-Skiing will tell a new, shared story – one of the trail, the landscape, and the meaningful stopping points along the route.
